Education
Meakea believes that the most sustainable approach to secure a better life for the less privileged children is through education. We want to show the importance of self-reliance and encourage them to be responsible for their own development. Hence, there will be strong emphasis on educational programs.
Major Accomplishments
Support primary school: Recently, Meakea started to operate one primary school which support to 208 students (124 girls) and five teachers in Kampong Speu province.
Child Sponsorship: Established child sponsorship program that provide education materials, bicycles and other support to 23 children in the center.
English classes: English taught to 482 poor children (287 girls) in Takeo and Banteacy Meanchey provinces
Small Business Training: Small business management conducted to 134 participants (82 women) in Takeo and Banteay Meanchey provinces.
Short Courses: Conducted Basic Leadership and Management, Community Development, Job Seeking and Facilitation Skills programs to 404 participants (121 women) who youth in Banteay Meanchey province and Phnom Penh.
Computer training: Trained 63 students (21 girls) on Word and Excel program in Takeo province.
Student Exchange Visit: Hosted Singaporean students from Raffles Girls' School (RGS) and Serangon Golden Secondary School (SGS) from Singapore to exchange culture, teaching, IT training and gift donations to four primary schools, two secondary schools and one child education center. This program benefited about 4,000 children. There are 97 high school and center students who have regular communication with RGS students through letters and gifts.
